Historical Timeline of the Fort Osage Fire Protection District
1920's
• Model “B” Ford chemical wagon was purchased
1931
• City of Buckner built a combination City Hall, Fire Station, and Jail
1940's
• 1938 GMC Chassis was obtained and a fire truck body was assembled
1953
• Buckner Volunteer Fire Department was officially organized
• Arnold "Reddy" Dyer became the first Fire Chief
1954 • 1954 Chevrolet Chasis was ordered as a new pumper 1957
• Rural fire dues implemented
• Ambulance service was added, but only lasted one year due to the cost of liability insurance
1963
• November the Osage Fire Protection District formed
• The district started with 20 firefighters and 4 pieces of apparatus
1966
• January 25th a new 750 gpm pumper was received
• August the first SCBA was placed in-service
• Ford 4x4 brush rig was put in-service
• October 19th a lot at 319 S. Central was purchased for a new station
1967
• March 12th open house was held for the new station
