Training Division

The Training Division of the Fort Osage Fire Protection District is committed to:
• Developing challenging training programs that are relevant to
    department operations.
• Develop and provide training resource material for use by district
    personnel, to meet expectations and obligations as required by
    the general public.
• Develop and refine training outlines and testing material for the
    improvement of knowledge and pertinent skills, for all personnel.
• To provide a leading example of quality training improvement and
    execution.

In order to provide emergency services efficiently, the district takes great pride in our training program. This is made possible by having dedicated traininng personnel, as well as the majority of our paid personnel are trained to the level of Fire Service Instructor I. Our personnel train weekly on fire and emergency medical related materials.

Every effort is made to keep our personnel updated on the latest trends and technologies relevant to our profession. Personnel are also trained to the level of the most current nationally recognized standards. A majority of our personnel have gone above and beyond the District’s minimum requirements and have achieved other pertinent certifications. Below is a list of the required, as well as optional certifications that our personnel have achieved.

• Firefighter I & II - Meets NFPA 1001 Standard for professional Firefighter Qualifications.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness, Operations, and Technician – Meets NFPA 472 Standard for Hazardous Materials
for the First Responder
• Fire Service Instructor I, II, & III - Meets NFPA 1041, Standard for Fire Service Instructor Qualifications.
• Fire Investigator I - Meets NFPA 1033, Standard for Fire Investigators Professional Qualifications.
• Fire Inspector I - Meets NFPA 1031, Standard for Fire Inspectors Professional Qualifications.
• Fire Officer I & II - Meets NFPA 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications.

With Emergency Medical Services also being a vital aspect of our emergency services delivery, it is also incumbent upon the Training Division to provide EMS continuing education. Our Fire District currently has Training Entity Accreditation through the State of Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. This allows the Training Division to provide EMS re-licensure requirements in-house to all of our personnel.
