Fire PreventionThe Fort Osage Fire Protection District provides fire prevention/education to the residents of the 115 sq. mile area we serve. This area includes the Fort Osage School District with 4 elementary schools, a middle, junior and senior high school complexes.
Education is provided by personnel visiting the schools and civic organizations with presentations ranging from basic fire safety and prevention to CPR classes. We also provide station tours and participate annually in Fire Prevention week and Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery campaigns.
Fire Safety TrailerThe fire safety trailer is a cooperative venture with the Burns Recovered Support Group who supplied the trailer for our use.
This custom designed trailer includes a kitchen, living room and child’s bedroom complete with smoke detectors, smoke simulation, TV/video capabilities and a heated door.
Common household amenities such as a microwave, stove/oven, toaster, fireplace and a bed are also in the trailer to provide children with a vision of a realistic home setting. The Safety Trailer specifically targets children K-4 but can be used for any age group to promote fire safety education.
Fire safety/education presentations are given year-round. The Fire Safety Trailer is available (weather permitting) throughout the year. Fire Department personnel are available to give safety presentations year round touching on subjects such as fire prevention, EDITH (Exit Drills In The Home), fire extinguisher training and CPR to name a few.

We also provide the following programs on an ongoing basis:
Kitchen Safety Class:This course is taught to eighth grade students in the junior high home economics class. The course is a two day seminar that emphasizes kitchen safety and also instructs students on how to extinguish pan and oven fires. The course is completed with all students extinguishing a fire in a pan. Although the course is taught primarily to the eighth grade students, it can be adapted to your group as well.
File of Life:This program is aimed at the elderly by having valuable patient information available for EMS responders. The residents are issued a patient card and refrigerator magnet to make it readily available.
C.H.A.D. (Children Have An IDentity):We participate in this program which is sponsored by Cameron Mutual Insurance. The program consists of a sticker with the child family information and then is placed on the car seat. In the event of an accident, emergency personnel can readily identify the child.
