December 2008 - Fort Osage Fire District Receives Federal Grant
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded a $96,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to the Fort Osage Fire Protection District. This will be for the purchase of Vehicle Exhaust Systems that will be installed in Fire Station 1 & 3.
Nationally, the AFG awards, which will be distributed in phases, will ultimately provide approximately $560 million to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations. AFG awards aim to enhance response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and other hazards.
Since 2002, AFG has provided more than $3.6 billion in grants to fire departments and first responder organizations to purchase response equipment, personal protective equipment, vehicles and fire prevention activities.
The Fort Osage Fire Protection District has been fortunate to have received three such grants since the inception of the program
